Movie review

I thought that the movie was pretty good. The action was intense and the drama came from the little girl being autistic. The girl was amazing. She was autistic but she was able to really kick ass. I mean it was so much of an accomplishment for her to be able to fight as well as she did and have that disability. Life is a struggle for the girl but she is able to practice the arts of the ninja. Ninja fighting is hard enough without having a disability. Fighting as it turns out was the best of her abilities. She is an amazing main character and she has to deal with a lot of challenges from day to day. Being autistic and being able to fight as well as she did made for an awesome action packed film.

I agree! The variables introduced--her disability, the family situation, the obviously self-destructive choices made by various characters--makes the film more than just an action throwaway (remember my scathing critique of the Batman movie?). I mean, when we say someone "shot himself in the foot," what are we saying? I mean, we don't usually literally shoot ourselves, but we do harm ourselves in a deliberate, meaningless way, to appease whatever uncontrollable urges or emotions we have. We could have a good job & just throw it away for nothing. We could have a choice to move on or make fools of ourselves, crashing our car in an emotional haze, to what purpose? It's not something we can make "sense" of, perhaps, unless we just look at ourselves, as humans, and consider what makes us tick. We don't make much sense! Autastic!
