Like mom
I did not totally get the movie. I did see the symbolism but only after the teacher pointed it out to me. I felt the hair was a big symbol. This was something that comforted the little girl as a child. When her moms hair fell out she did not understand and freaked out. The other symbol I saw was when she cut all her hair off, it was as if she wanted to be like her mom.

I agree that the movie was hard to understand and it was some of the worst subtitle talk I've ever witnessed! The hair along with other things could have been symbolic, but like stated, the movie as a whole in my opinion was horribly made! The only cool part was that they did there own stunts and of course when the movie ended.
I really liked strange simplicity of the film. The fights make much more sense to me when viewed metaphorically. Knowing and working with many people with disabilities over the years--both in educational and workplace settings--the theme of this film makes a lot more sense when viewed as a representation of Zen's encounters with "reality" when mediated through her disability. In other words, she has to face the complex world, just as we all do, but with something standing between her and making her way in that reality. These obstacles are like highly skilled opponents, who challenge her ever move. She must move lightning fast, anticipate attacks, and expend tremendous effort. In the film, these exploits are shown as triumphs over others in fights. In "reality," I see these triumphs as victories over what a non-disabled person would see as "simple" or "easy." This, to me, shows the tremendous achievements people with disabilities make in striving to live productive, active lives; to learn; and to add so many very important things to the lives of their families.
I thought it was a pretty poorly made movie!!
Yes i do agree with when she did cut her hair off she was like trying to be like her mother, but if you noticed she never cut all her hair off she left some though as a memory.
it deffinetely was a horribly made movie like i have said before i hate kung fu stuff but i have liked some kung fu movies but this was just to poorly made to watch again or tell someone else to watch the hair thing i missed but i understand what u guys were saying the stucnts it was cool that they did there own stunts but the werent that safe on there safety issues so they must have not had much money to work with or they just didnt care about all the injuries
I agree with you i think the most fulfilling part of the whole situation, is reading all of your responses, and seeing what you guys thought of the film.
I wish I would have seen the whole movie so I could have more of an opinion.
