yeah i thought the movie was very stupid. I did not like the inconsitancies, she kicks the bad guys in the face and theyre done while her family is getting shot, stabbed and beaten to a pulp but yet they still manage to keep fighting. Personally i feel that there is no point to this movie. I think that in trying to find a meaning you may be looking to far into it. cant the purpose just be entertainment? Not everything has some huge symbolic meaning to it. Bad acting, bad script, bad movie. She must have a new form of autism like selective autism she seems to be able to use her autism whenever she wants which makes the movie even more stupid.
Low budget kung-fu movies, what can you do? haha
ReplyDeleteThere are always ways to find meaning, or to make meaning, from media or whatever you want to focus on. This is, I believe, the essence of creativity. A picture could be absolutely blank, just a white painted square, but that doesn't make it meaningless. I also believe the absence of "meaning" can be pursued critically, whether nonsensical, surreal, or just pain cheap thrills, big budget, Hollywood processed cheese. I just personally like my nourishment a little less "processed." Tangy!
ReplyDeleteOh, & not to push the issue too far (too late?), I always liked the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote: "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." Or Walt Whitman, who wrote, "Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)" Or Bono: "Nothing's as simple as you think." Nasty!
ReplyDeleteYour right the movie was deffently low budget and a bit corny. I found i way to relate to it because i know a few autistic people, and they have some amazing abiltys to remember something that they see. If you ever get the chance to talk to one deffentaly see for yourself.i talk more about this elderly lady i met in my blog who is autictic and if you tell her your birthday she will remember it forever.
ReplyDeleteI agree, this movie was so simple it was almost too hard to follow. All she really did was fight and try to get money for her mother. Her kicking a man in the face would not make him stop fighting, it was just unrealistic for me. I also agree that there wasnt much symbolism in this movie. I'm not knocking people with autism but i dont think this was a good example of it.
