My Fave

What is your favorite... movie, book, website, or tv show?
or band, singer, play, breed of dog, or bird?

I think my favorite bird must be the chickadee
--black-capped chickadee, to be specific. They
hang around all winter long, singing,
"chick-a-dee-dee-dee," and you can talk to them,
& they listen! Chickadees are known to eat out
of people's hands, & they fly close to get a good
look at you. They're brave, the one bird that doesn't
always fly away frantically when I step out on the
porch, where the birdfeeder is. I've seen them eating
dried berries in the woods, swinging upside-down
on branches to get at them, swinging & flying &
singing their way through the brutally cold days,
& the first to greet the spring with calls, one whistle
followed by two of a note a couple steps below.
If you whistle the same tones, you can on a
conversation for probably longer than you want to.
But if the response to this mating call is a half-step
below, like a sad minor to a joyous major, it means
the other chickadee is spoken for (that's what my friend,
Jenn Jump, told me). They're the tiniest, the happiest,
the bravest, & the toughest birds around.
& they're always around!

In the summer time, after it rains, I love to pick a quiet spot near the creek where I live and watch how lovely everything seems to be. I can invision it now. The pasture that my horses are in glistens with wetness as they graze.Every so often, they snort and stomp, almost to let each other know they are happy to be together. They shake the dampness off of thier bodies, and take turns rolling in the fresh mud and wet grass as if to place their mark permanently there. The hill behind them seems to breath and the trees are especially lush and full. From them, a mother deer and her fawn carefully come out of the protection of those trees and come into the field on the hill to dine on freshly washed alphalfa and sweet purple clover. Such a feast! The birds are singing now, sweet with a relief that the storm is over. I take a deep breath in to fill my lungs with the aromas of earth and trees and water. The creek bubbles and rolls past me, and if I think of it then, I may put my feet in those ripples, letting the small stream tickle them and sooth the aching that the hard day from life caused. There I will continue to watch how truly beautiful the light can make everything appear. I always feel thankful then to be alive. Yes, that is a favorite time for me.~ Lisa

My favorite show would have to be Southpark on Comedy Central. It's really funny and entertaining to watch. Last night's show was the first Southpark I was actually dissapointed in. It was about one of the guys, Stan Marsh coaching a preschool hockey team to raise up enough money to get his bike out of impound. When Stan arrives, he noticed one of his team members has cancer. This little boy ends up not being able to play in the game, however Stan promises the little boy they'll win their game. If he doesn't win, then the kid dies. They end up tying their game and the little boy almost dies. Stan is given one more game to play and if he wins, the boy won't suffer from cancer anymore. They show up to the stadium but the preschool team they were supposed to play doesn't show. But if they don't win, then the boy dies so they end up playing an adult professional team. It shows the adult team beating the crap out of the preschool kids, and in the end they lose 31 to 2. In the end it shows the little boy seeing his team lose, and saying there's no hope. His heart rate stops and he dies. Nice ending, huh?

My favorite book is probably the Oath by Frank Peretti. He is my all time favorite author. He mainly writes Christian suspense novels. I love all of his books, but this one is definitely my favorite. I have read it multiple times and it never gets old. It is mainly about this little town in the boonies, and there has been a mysterious attack on the main character's brother. People said it was a bear attack, but he didn't believe it, so he tried to figure out what was going on. After coming into this town he realized that the people hated "outsiders" but he stayed anyways. But yeah, after a while he learns that people that do some bad stuff, get this dark spot over their hearts and it gets bigger and darker, and smellier as a couple days pass. Then the persn with the spot wanders into the woods and is eaten by this dragon that the townspeople had made an oath with hundreds of years before. Its kind of wierd but it is so neat to read it through and figure all the things out. I love this author because he is so good at intertwining so many meanings into the book.
Anyways, thats my favorite book.

I think my favorite TV show is definitely That 70's Sjow. It has plenty of humor, real-life problems, and I always look forward to watching it. It's not a very serious show, but it's good to watch if you're having a bad day or something. I feel like i'm in the basement with Eric and Kelso and Hyde and Donna and the whole crew. I can actually relate with the show and it is this that I look forward to every day. The only thing I dont like about the show is that it can be "cheesy" sometimes, with all of the 70's attitude, although that is half the humor to me. I laugh at the stupid clothes and the hippie Leo is one of my favorite characters, so i cant be judgemental or anything toward the 70's theme.

My fave show would be CSI Las Vegas. I really dont like the other CSI's because they are dry and not fun to watch. I love the action and the fact that you learn new things about solving crimes and trying to find out who did it. Not only that it teaches you to look at everyone as a suspect. It doesn't only tell you who did it and why. They show you how they did the crime and the facts that point to the truth. Each show is different and full of action.

Hopefully I'm in the right area...

Here it is, short and sweet.

My favorite film is The Shining written by Stephen King and directed by Stanley Kubrick. The movie depicts how isolationism can lead to madness. I think the ghosts were manifested from the negative emotional state of Jack Torrance.

Gots ta go, J3.

Ok, I guess I can't stall much longer. As I read all the comments last night, I became very worried. I knew I couldn't write something right away, I had to think about it. That worried me a bit. How bad must it be to not have a favorite something off the top of my head? So I laid awake before sleeping, going through as many possibilities I could think of. Throughout the day today, I have still been thinking. I am now very weirded out because I have realized I have not placed a "favorite" tag on anything! How bizzare is that? I've thought about books, movies, artists (the list is endless!) and have come to the conclusion that I like alot of things. Maybe I need to get more picky about the things I enjoy, just to say I have a favorite. I can't even claim a favorite ice cream! So, this is a dilemma for me. Will I get a minus for not choosing anything? My life brings new things to me all the time, I guess I have just become used to things never staying the same. What in the world does this say of me? (Really no one has to answer that, I think I've figured it out!!) Oh, wait.. My favorite card game is Shanghai Rummi, haven't played in forever, maybe I should make a point to. Whew!

My favorite movie would have to be step up. Its about a ballet dancer that needs a partner for her showcase and the only person who can do it is a guy who is a janitor at the school because he damaged it earlier on. The janitor is a hip hop dancer, and together they come up with a new ruotine for the ballet dancer and everyone loves it , and they fall in love. A lot of other things happen too but thats it in a nutshell!
