I for one have never been a fan of American Idol nor have I bothered to waste my time watching it. Yet from all the news about the show I keep seeing, it seems the show just gets more ridiculous every new season. What angers me about the show is how overly fake it is and yet people eat it up. This is not 'reality' T.V. Everything is all pretaped and scripted. Also I'd rather watch someone earn their way to the top of the charts instead of being put their because of their 'idol' status. But for some reason or another people revolve their lives around the show so much that they have to start scandal where it is unnecessary.
For whatever reason, people are fascinated by this garbage. In fact they get so into the show that they have scout out every single detail of the contestant's life. When did things get so bad that people are whining about the lives of wannabe celebrities? It's getting to be really ridiculous. If I'm going to watch the news I want to learn and see the important things going on in our world. What I don't want to see is who's winning on American idol or hear about all the stupid scandals people make up about the show. So what if a contestant was a stripper, it's none of any one's business. Contestants are on the show to sing, not to be ridiculed about their life stories. It still boggles my mind that people care about the American Idol contestant's lives more than they do their own. I just don't understand why people are getting so upset about things that are really none of their business. I'm also confused as to why people have to cause problems for others. This American Idol 'Stripper' hasn't done anything wrong and he should be respected and cared for because of his abilities as a performer rather than the scandal that people pushed upon him. People who actually watch should just enjoy the show for it's entertainment purposes (which is what it was made for!) rather than trying to start scandal where ever they can find it.
All in all American Idol is a terrible show but it does it's job of entertaining it's fans. The only purpose the show has is for entertainment not to start a war of words against it's contestants. People need to get a grip on reality. Rather than focusing on the wrongs of others they should first take a look in the mirror. No one is perfect, and no one ever will be so they shouldn't be criticized because of their faults but embraced for what they do best: entertain you! So rather than trying to find every contestants bad side, viewers should just sit back and enjoy the show they way it was meant to be viewed, instead of revolving their lives around it.

You kinda' confused me with this blog. You say that it's a ridiculous show, yet we should respect the lives of the people that perform on it??? I agee with you about the idea that it is not as good as when they first started the show, but I think that the idea of the show is good as it gives talented people the opportunity to get their name out there w/o spending a lot of money. These people need to realize, and I think they do, that if they are going to be on the show, they are going to be in the public eye. If they have anything to hide, they should stay off the show.
Honestly I don't really see what the big deal is about American Idol or the contestants' personal lives. When did we, as Americans, become so interested in the private lives of celebrities that we don't even know and probably will never meet? If anything, magazines like People should be focused on remembering the lives of fallen soldiers, and they should publish pieces about more important issues that affect our everyday lives...Not on the daily conquests of Britney Spears and her younger sister, or the daily habits and sex lives of the American Idol contestants. I mean really, Americans just need to get lives and somehow realize what is really important in life...C'mon people...In ten years Britney will be on kid number twenty and you still will never have met her...Unless of course you happen to be admitted into the same looney bin that she is inhabiting at any given time because of your celebrity obsessions...
I also felt a bit confused reading your article. At first you seemed outraged by American Idol and yet I felt that you were defending the contestants and thier personal lives. Although it may not be politicaly correct Americans do feed on the celebrity lives and styles. Celebrities (big or small) know going in that they will be submitted to the public so if that is the road they choose then they should follow the rules or choose a new carreer.
Take a look at the winners of the American Idol's.You never hear of them, mostly it is the runners ups. So what she did in the past is her business. We all have skeltons in our closets and there is more in lofe to worry about than what the next person did. I agree with ginny stating that if these people want to be in the public eye, than they need to realixe some of their secerts will eventually get out.
Well, to start I am a huge fan of american idol! I have watched since the first season. I don't peroanally like him a signer, but i dont' think that his past should have anyting to do with his singing abiblity. This is a singing competition. of course if he expected people not to dig up dirt is pretty dumb on his part. You are trying to put your self out there so you just have to accept what comes with it. And you have to remeber the choices you make today is are the choices you will have to live with tomorrow!
